Once the two of you are together show him the changes you’ve made, don’t talk about it, let him see for himself.  If things go well give it a few days and call him again and see if he’d like to go out again. Remember, at this point the two of you are starting all over again, so be willing to take it slow and let him see that the changes you’ve made are real.

This advice is simple but very effective as long as you are willing to put in some time and effort. In order for it to work you also have to be willing to face some things about the person you are and be willing to make some changes.
