In the first flush of excitement that comes with a new boyfriend, it’s hard to believe the relationship could ever become dull and repetitive. There is so much to talk about, and so many things to do, you’ll never get bored, right? Then suddenly you find your relationship has slipped into a rut and you’re looking for special things to do for your boyfriend to keep the interest and romance alive. Here are a few tips on special things to do for your boyfriend.
Make them a special home cooked meal; something that you know they’ll like even if it’s not one of your favorites. This is especially effective if you know they’ve had a hard day at the office and you can have the dinner ready when they get home. It doesn’t matter if you’re not the world’s greatest cook, they’ll appreciate the effort, especially if you set the table, open a bottle of wine, switch off the TV and really talk to them while you eat.
If he tells you he likes a particular perfume, make sure you wear it whenever you go out on a date with him, or on special occasions when a romantic evening is on the cards. He’ll associate the scent with good times, and just a whiff will be enough to put him in a good mood. Similarly, if you are going out together, wear a dress that you know he likes. It will make him feel that you value his opinion and that you were thinking of him when you got ready.
Take an interest in his hobbies. You don’t need to become an expert (that would probably freak him out anyway) but if he is really into cars then ask about any unusual ones you see when you are out and about. If he’s a sports fan make sure you ask him from time to time how his teams are doing, and find out when their games are on TV so you don’t plan for him to do something else. Going along to the occasional game or race day with him won’t kill you, you might even enjoy it.
Men are more sentimental than they like to let on. Sending him an SMS at work just to let him know you’re thinking of him will make him smile without embarrassing him in front of colleagues or interrupting a crucial meeting. If you’re going to be away from him for a night leave a note on his pillow or by the bed; he’ll go to sleep thinking about you.
Suggest that he go out with the guys occasionally. This will get you serious brownie points as well as giving you some quality time with the girls. Make an effort to get to know his friends and their girlfriends. Even if they aren’t your kind of people it will make life a lot easier for him if you can all hang out together sometimes.
Plan some time away for just the two of you. It doesn’t need to be anything expensive if you can’t afford much. Go camping for a weekend somewhere that you know is special to him, take long walks, eat good food, snuggle up under the stars at night and talk like you used to.
Nobody knows your boyfriend better than you do, so once you begin to think about it there are so many special things you can do for him. They don’t need to be huge gestures, just something to let him know you still care and that he’s as important to you as the day you got together. All relationships take effort from both sides and finding special things to do for your boyfriend may have the additional benefit that he’ll find special things to do for you too!
